Oceanaia

Bloom of synthesis

ARTISTIC VIDEOGAME by Christelle Mas & Olli Uikkanen

“Creating Tomorrow” Art, Nature and innovation in a sustainable future

The interactive Art Game Oceanaia is an Aquatic Ecosystem Simulation. The game is set in the year 7000, on a distant planet, where humans coexist harmoniously with genetically modified species in a utopian world, divided into four distinct ecosystems, with their own philosophies on our relation with nature. It explores themes of sustainability, diversity, and ecological innovation.

Our process

The game seamlessly integrates Christelle Mas mixed media artworks, with in-game environments and creatures inspired by real-life soft sculptures, installations, photocollages, and photographs. This artistic integration adds a unique aesthetic dimension to the game, creating a visually captivating world that encourages players to reflect on the themes of diversity, sustainability, and the future of human and non-human life. All the background images are created using microscope photographs of animals. The files are then processed in scientific software specific to the different microscopes used..
